A Scots driver rescued a runaway pooch left stranded and dodging trains on the Forth Bridge.
Echo the dog caused disruption to Friday peak time journeys from Edinburgh to the Kingdom after running “back and forth” on the line between North Queensferry and Dalmeny for about two hours.
ScotRail and Network Rail launched a rescue mission to save the canine, slowing the 7.12pm service from Edinburgh Waverley to Kirkcaldy near the Forth Bridge to pick him up.
The train was being driven by Ross Scott, who carried the pooch back to safety.
Earlier services had been “slowed” after the animal was spotted and reported.
At the time, ScotRail posted: “Due to animals on the railway between North Queensferry – Dalmeny, services running through these stations will be delayed.”
The dog’s owner and police both boarded a southbound train, which was brought to a halt at Dalmeny Station to allow the pooch to return home.

Jamie McEwan, of Broughty Ferry, was on the southbound train.
He said: “The evening peak from Edinburgh through Fife was disrupted this evening due to a dog on the line, not just any bit of line though but the Forth Bridge between North Queensferry and Dalmeny.
“On the line for about two hours and having ran back and forth numerous times avoiding countless trains which were slowed the owner, police and Network Rail boarded a train to retrieve him…MY train!
“With the help of Mr Ross Scott we did and he got to travel the short distance to Dalmeny station on board and to the safety of the station platform and home miraculously unscathed!
“His name is Echo, a Romanian rescue dog, (rescued for the second time).”
