One of the busiest stretches of the Kingsway will close twice in the next two weeks to allow new pedestrian crossings to be installed.
The A90 route will be shut eastbound between the Old Glamis Road roundabout and the Forfar Road junction from 7.30pm on Friday until 6.30am next Monday.
The dual carriageway will then close in the opposite direction, westbound from Forfar Road to Old Glamis Road, from 7.30pm on Friday July 6 until 6.30am on Monday July 9.
During each closure, vehicles will likely be diverted via either Claverhouse Road or Clepington Road.
The closures are being arranged by Dundee City Council so workers can install new sets of pedestrian crossings to improve the safety of walkers and cyclists going to and from Caird Park.
The project is being funded by a Scottish Government grant.
The toucan-style crossings have wider paths than old-style pelican or puffin crossings, making them more suitable for bicycles.
Council chiefs do not expect the crossings to cause significant traffic build-ups, since they will only be activated when required by crossing pedestrians or cyclists.
Analysis by the Department for Transport shows that more than 38,000 vehicles travel eastbound on the road daily.
These include more than 28,000 cars, 135 buses, 6,900 light goods vehicles and 2,800 heavy goods vehicles, such as articulated lorries.
A Dundee City Council spokeswoman said: “These closures are to facilitate the installation of new dual toucan crossings linked to Caird Park.”
