A motorcyclist has died following a crash on a busy route connecting Aberdeenshire and Perthshire.
The man in his 50s was killed following the collision on the A93 Braemar to Perth road at about 1.45pm on Friday.
The Suzuki motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the incident, which happened between Glenshee and Braemar.
The biker was pronounced dead a short time later and the road was closed to allow for accident investigation work to be carried out.
The man’s next of kin have been informed and further information will be released once a formal identification has been carried out.
Sergeant Stuart Lawrence from the road policing unit said: “Our thoughts at this difficult time are with the man’s family and friends.
“We have officers supporting them and would urge anyone who may have seen the motorbike around the time of the incident and who may have stopped to render assistance to contact us as a matter of urgency.
“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 1945 of July 13.”
