A 19-year-old man is in a “critical condition” and a woman has been left with “serious” injuries following a crash on one of Perthshire’s busiest roads.
A Mini and a Mercedes collided on the A93 Perth to Braemar road just north of Blairgowrie on Thursday at about 8.10pm.
The man behind the wheel of the Mini, 19, was taken to Ninewells Hospital. His condition is described as “critical”.
A 48-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Mercedes, suffered “serious injuries”. The man driving the vehicle, 44, was left with minor injuries.
Police placed diversions around the scene of the incident as officers investigated the crash on Thursday evening.
A Tayside Police Division statement reads: “Police Scotland is appealing for information after a serious road traffic collision involving a Mini and a Mercedes on the A93 yesterday (Thursday, October 25).
“The collision happened one mile north of Blairgowrie at around 8.10pm.
“The 19-year-old male driver of the Mini was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where he remains in a critical condition.
“The 44-year-old male driver of the Mercedes sustained minor injuries and his 48-year-old female passenger suffered serious injuries.
“Our thoughts are with those injured and their families.
“Diversions were put in place as the road was closed to allow full crash investigations to be carried out.
“Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the cars prior to the incident to get in touch on 101, quoting reference number 3716 of October 25.”
