Bus replacement service due to broken railway at Dunkeld

Buses are replacing trains between Perth and Pitlochry.

Trains between Perth and Pitlochry have been cancelled due to a broken rail.

Services travelling via the Fair City and Inverness are being replaced by buses until Pitlochry, where trains will continue north.

Those travelling south are being decanted at Pitlochry to travel by bus to Perth, before taking the train to Edinburgh or Glasgow.

The cancellations have been caused by a broken rail at the Dunkeld and Birnam station.

A ScotRail statement said: “Due to a broken rail at Dunkeld & Birnam, the line between Perth and Pitlochry is closed.

“Network Rail staff are in site investigating. We’re only able to run trains services between Edinburgh/Glasgow and Perth, and between Pitlochry and Inverness.

“We’ve requested a number of buses to replace trains between Perth and Pitlochry.

“You can also travel by train between Perth and Inverness via Aberdeen.”
