Motorists in Broughty Ferry have been warned of potential delays as repairs to a busy road begin later this month.
Tayside Contracts will carry out the resurfacing work on Strathern Road on behalf of Dundee City Council on November 19. The work will be done in three phases and will take about four weeks to complete.
It will begin on the section of road between Claypotts Road and Victoria Road, moving on to the part which links Claypotts Road and Duntrune Terrace, and then concluding between Dawson Road and Fairfield Road.
The sections will close one at a time as the work is carried out, in an effort to minimise disruption.
Diversions will be put in place along neighbouring streets.
Ferry Liberal Democrat councillor Craig Duncan advised people to set aside more time for their journeys while the work is being carried out.
He said: “Strathern Road is very busy and also a major bus route with the number 73 and the number 5 both travelling along the street.
“Obviously the whole street won’t be shut off and there will be diversions in place, but this is not a side street – it’s a major thoroughfare. I’m glad the work is being done, but it’s not going to be completed without inconvenience.”
A spokesman for the council said: “These roadworks are part of an ongoing roads maintenance programme across the city.”
