A man has died following a crash on one of Perthshire’s busiest roads.
Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the A9 Perth to Inverness road near the Blair Atholl turn-off following the collision involving four vehicles, including an HGV, at about 12.50pm.
Police have confirmed that a man has died as a result of the crash.
An air ambulance and two road ambulances were called to the incident. Two people are said to have been treated at the scene.
The A9 has been closed in both directions and drivers have been told to “avoid” the stretch of road if possible.
A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a man has died as a result of a road traffic collision involving four vehicles which happened at 12.50pm today on the A9 north of Pitlochry, near to the Blair Atholl turn-off, south of House Of Bruar.
“The road is still currently closed in both directions to allow investigation to be carried out.
“Please try and avoid the area if at all possible. Motorists are thanked for their patience.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received a call at 12.55pm to attend a road traffic incident on the A9, near Killiecrankie.
“We dispatched two ambulance crews, a special operations crew and an air ambulance to the scene. Two patients were treated at the scene.”
A fire and rescue spokeswoman said two appliances, one from Pitlochry and another from Dunkeld, were called to the scene.
She added: “We are currently in attendance there just now. We received a call just before 1pm. Crews are currently on the scene making the scene safe and assisting paramedics.
“We sent two crews, one from Pitlochry and one from Dunkeld.”
