A man has died following a three-vehicle crash on an Angus road.
The A94 Forfar to Coupar Angus road has been forced to close near Eassie following the collision, which took place at 1.25pm and involved a red Ford Transit van, a black Renault Kangoo and a black Volkswagen Polo.
Police have confirmed that a 68-year-old man, who was driving the Renault, died following the incident.
The crash took place at the A94’s junction to the Hatton of Eassie road.
The two other drivers suffered minor injuries in the collision.
Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the crash.
Road Policing Sergeant Craig McBean said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has sadly died. I can confirm his next of kin have been updated. Further details will be issued in due course.
“We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the collision or who saw any of the vehicles involved to contact police on 101 using reference number 1890 of February 15.”
Earlier a police spokeswoman said: “The road will be closed for some time.”
A fire and rescue spokeswoman said two appliances – one from Alyth and another from Kirriemuir – were called to the scene.
The spokeswoman added: “We did get a call from the police at about 1.30pm. We had two appliances from Alyth and Kirriemuir, it was just outside of Glamis on the A94.
“Hydraulic rescue equipment was in use.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 1.20pm today to attend a road traffic collision on the A94 near Eassie Muir.
“Two ambulances and the trauma team were dispatched to the scene.”
