Services through Perth and Dundee were cancelled and revised after a fault forced the closure of a railway line on Thursday morning.
The breakdown near Bridge of Allan affected journeys from Glasgow to Aberdeen and Inverness.
The line towards Dunblane was closed with services through Dundee and Perth called off or revised.
Passengers travelling from Glasgow to anywhere north of Stirling had been told they could use services through Edinburgh instead.
UPDATE: The faulty unit is now on the move, we're working hard to get services back on schedule.

ScotRail said: “We are dealing with a train fault at Bridge of Allan which is causing some disruption to our service.
“We have an assistance train moving into position at the moment to move the failed train clear of the line. We will update you once we get more information from the ground.
“Customers travelling from Queen St to stations north of Stirling can travel on services via Edinburgh but this will add significant times to journeys.”
It comes just two days after a breakdown at Arbroath caused travel chaos across Tayside and Fife.
UPDATE
The line was reopened at about 10.30am, however services continue to be affected.
UPDATE: The line is now open and services are returning to normal. Some services may still be delayed or revised.
