Train journeys have been affected after an HGV collided with a bridge in Fife on Tuesday morning.
Rail services were called off following the incident on Hope Street, Inverkeithing, at about 10.30am.
The HGV driver drove off after the vehicle struck the bridge, which was assessed by Network Rail engineers.
However the structure was not badly damaged.
A Network Rail spokesman said: “An HGV struck a rail bridge and drove off at Hope St on the outskirts of Inverkeithing at around 10.30am this morning.
“Rail services were suspended while specialist structures engineers checked the bridge for damage.
“There was no significant damage caused by the collision, just superficial scrapes, and the line was reopened at around 11.20am.
“The incident has caused significant delays to trains through Fife and we are now working to restore services to normal.”
ScotRail said there will be disruption on the rail network until 2pm.
Police were made aware of the incident but were not required on the scene.
A ScotRail statement reads: “Following a road vehicle colliding with a bridge earlier today at North Queensferry all lines are now open.
“Train services running through this station will be delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 2pm.”
