The main road between Dundee and Aberdeen was partially closed following a crash involving two HGVs.
Traffic Scotland said the A90 was shut northbound from Stonehaven to the Cleanhill Roundabout following the collision at about 11am.
Southbound traffic was also down to one lane as the vehicles were recovered.
The incident at the Cleanhill Roundabout, part of the new Aberdeen Bypass, involved a lorry and a tipper truck.
Nobody is said to have been injured.
A police spokeswoman said: “It was a lorry and a tipper truck. It took place at about 11am this morning.
“The road was closed not long after that. We expect that to change quite soon.”
The road was reopened at about 3.30pm.
The North East Police Division posted to Facebook: “Following an earlier collision on the A90 we can confirm that the road closures have been lifted and the A90 is now open at Stonehaven northbound and Charleston westbound.”
Earlier Traffic Scotland had posted: “A90(N) Stonehaven to Cleanhill Roundabout is currently closed due to a road traffic incident.
“Southbound is also down to one lane. Please consider alternative routes where possible and expect delays to your journey.”
