Perth police have slammed driving standards on display in the local area after attending a string of crashes on Tuesday.

Road policing officers based in the Fair City say they were called to a number of incidents caused by people not driving to the wet conditions.

Tayside was hit by a downpour on Tuesday with the damp weather set to continue as thunderstorms batter the region on Wednesday and Thursday.

The force’s Perth road policing team also found six drivers taking to the roads without an MOT and one person who was using their phone behind the wheel.

The tweet from Road Policing Scotland reads: “Perth RP (road policing) today attended several RTCs as a result of drivers not driving to the conditions, thankfully no one was seriously injured.

“Whilst on patrol, we also detected six vehicles with no MOT, one driver using a mobile telephone (and) one LGV extremely overweight.”

At about 1.40pm in Perthshire, two vehicles collided on the A9 north of Dunkeld, near the B898 road to Inchmagrannachan. One person was injured.

And at about 3.45pm police closed the A84 Doune to Callander road due to a one-vehicle collision.

Three people were in the silver Volkswagen Bora when the crash took place. One of them was injured.
