A 24-year-old man has died following a crash involving a lorry and a car on the busiest road through Angus.
Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the crash involving a red Volkswagon Golf and an HGV.
The lorry driver was uninjured in the collision, which forced the partial closure of the A90 for six hours.
A Tayside Police Division statement reads: “Police Scotland can confirm that a 24-year-old man has died following a road traffic collision on the A90 Dundee to Aberdeen road, about 500m north of the junction with the road leading to Careston, Angus.
“His next of kin have been informed, and our thoughts are with them at this sad time.
“The incident happened about 9:15am this morning (September 3), and involved a red VW Golf and a lorry. The driver of the lorry was uninjured, and no other persons were involved.
“Inquiries are continuing into the full circumstances, and we would like to ask anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any other relevant information to please call 101, or speak to any police officer. Our reference is incident 0656 of September 3.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 9.18am on Tuesday, September 3 to attend a road traffic collision on the A90 near Brechin. Two ambulances were dispatched to scene.”
A fire and rescue spokeswoman said two appliances – one from Brechin and another from Montrose – were called to the scene.
She added: “We are no longer at the scene. Police are dealing with it.”
