Motorists using the A92 this weekend may face delays due to roadworks near Cowdenbeath.
Part of the northbound carriageway is to resurfaced in a £380,000 investment by Transport Scotland to make the route safer and smoother.
Work by BEAR Scotland will begin at 7.30pm on Friday and will be conducted round the clock until 6am on Monday.
A contraflow traffic management system will operate on the A92 between Crossgates and Cowdenbeath, with slip roads remaining open at both junctions.
To allow traffic management to be put in place, there will also be overnight lane closures on Thursday on both the northbound and southbound carriageways.
Drivers were warned to allow extra time for their journey.
Andy Thompson, of BEAR Scotland, said: “These £380,000 surfacing improvements near Cowdenbeath will help address and repair any defects in the road surface, such as potholes or cracks, and will therefore create an improved road surface for motorists.
“The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of both road workers and motorists.
“To help minimise delays, we’ve planned the resurfacing to take place over one weekend using 24-hour working.
“By working continuously, disruption to the traveling public will be minimised.
“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A92.
“We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
