A man has been taken to hospital after a lorry overturned on one of Perthshire’s busiest routes on Tuesday morning.
Police and paramedics were called after the incident on the A9 Perth to Inverness road near Bankfoot at about 9.30am.
Drivers were told to avoid the area with both northbound and southbound lanes initially closed due to the overturned HGV.
A second vehicle is believed to have been involved in the incident.
A man, said to be the lorry driver, was injured and taken to Ninewells Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The incident also caused an oil spill on the road.
Traffic was left at a standstill in both directions as a result.
A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 9.30am today to attend an incident on the A9 at Bankfoot.
“We dispatched one ambulance to the scene and transported one male patient to Ninewells.”
A police spokesman said: “We were called around 9.30am to a two-vehicle collision on the A9 near Bankfoot.
“One was a lorry. Road was closed but re-opened at 10.30am. One man with injuries. Scottish Ambulance service in attendance.”
As of about 11am one southbound lane had reopened on the A9.
Traffic Scotland earlier described the incident as a “serious RTC (road traffic collision)”.
The organisation added: “A9 is closed both ways north of Bankfoot due to a serious RTC. Traffic is at a stand both ways.”

The A9 was also partially blocked further north at Granish, near Aviemore, on Tuesday morning due to a crash.
Traffic Scotland tweeted: “The A9 northbound is restricted at Granish, north of Aviemore due to a road traffic incident.
“Motorists are advised to approach with caution and expect delay.”
