Recently, the Blairgowrie Junior team which won the Midlands Junior League and Currie Cup in season 1974-75 had a reunion at the North End Social Club in Dundee.
Sy Thomson, the goalkeeper in that successful team sent in photos of the Currie Cup-winning team and the reunion.
Said Sy: “The Currie Cup Final was played at Simpson Park, Perth, on Sunday, May 4, 1975, between Blairgowrie and Kinnoull, with the final score being 3-0 to Blair.
“Berrypickers’ scorers were Dennis Elder with a header from 20 yards, Tommy Peterson and a 35-yarder from Dunc Smith.
“The Kinnoull team was: Kenny Barclay, W Sanderson, Bill Crosbie, Black, Dewar, Peebles, Angus, Malcolm, R Sanderson, Whyte, Dott. Subs – Gray and Dow.
“The referee was Glen Findlay.
“Blairgowrie beat Lochee Harp 8-0 at home in the first round, then beat North End in Dundee 4-1 in the second round.
“The quarter-final was close but they edged hosts Stobswell 2-1.
“In the semi-final, they beat Osborne 4-0.”
