Dundee United legendary striker Finn Dossing was the subject of our lead story on October 13.
I had mentioned a “certain 90 minutes at Dens Park” as one of Dossing’s finest performances for the Terrors.
The tale provoked several responses.
Duncan Fenwick said: “That ‘certain 90 minutes at Dens Park in 1965’ was a hat-trick against Dundee in a 5-0 rout.
“I still remember that Saturday night’s Sporting Post front page headline.
“It read: ‘Dazzler Dossing Dumps Dundee’ – best alliterative headline ever . . . for this old Arab, anyway!”
Hector Reid also remembered the game, commenting: “I went to that match with my dad and big brother, who both followed United.
“As a seven-year old and this being my first match, I decided to be contrary and support Dundee.
“On the walk home, I decided to change my mind and became a life-long Arab.”
Ian Cleall-Harding’s offering was short and sweet: “Part of a great team! 1965! Happy days.”
The photo we used with the lead story showed Dossing with fellow-Tannadice Scandinavians Orjan Persson and Lennart Wing.
Les Lumb picked up on that, and offered: “I am a Dundee supporter.
“I can remember they all visited Carolina House with team manager Jerry Kerr.
“They were all dressed smart in those days, and were very polite when they chatted with kids in the home.”
