Blether: Come on then, Grant, share your story of being part of successful Downfield side
ByJohn Brown
Some months ago, former Lochee United Junior FC favourite Jimmy Gowans was put forward as a player who has played more junior games than anyone else locally.
On social media, Grant Clark reckoned he could run Jimmy close.
A well-known goalkeeper, he offered: “I think I could be in with a shout.
“I started at 18 and played for Dundee Violet.
“I also played for a good few other teams and turned out in my last game for Violet, aged 50.
“In fact, the Scottish Junior FA thought the club secretary had made a mistake with my age when he tried to register me.”
Grant was a mainstay in the very successful Downfield side on the 1990s/2000s.
