Colin Morrison, of Crieff, has followed Rangers for over 50 years.
“Certainly, in the 1970s and 80s, I rarely missed a game home or away,” he said.
“Recently, in discussing certain games with friends, I recalled a time John Greig squared up to Alex Ferguson on the pitch and was sent off.
“In fact, I think the referee at that game was Bob Valentine, of Dundee.
“Do you have any details of this game?”
In a Rangers v Falkirk encounter at Ibrox in September 1970, Greig (above) was sent off after ‘an incident’ with Bairns striker Alex Ferguson.
The referee was Bert Padden, of Ardrossan.
However, whistler Valentine did, indeed, send Greig off but it was some seven years later after an ‘off-the-ball incident’ with Aberdeen’s Joe Smith at Pittodrie.
