Blether with Brown: Another Doug who was never booked

“When we ask about football players with outstanding disciplinary records, Doug Smith and Bobby Lennox immediately spring to mind,” said Andy Walker.
“However, there is another player — a local player — who was never booked or sent off in an 19-year career.
“He played 11 seasons for Dundee United and seven seasons for Forfar Athletic.
“His name was Doug Berrie, father of Paul and Doug Jr.
“It has to be said that the league he played in was not awash with silky, stylish players but more with those who had a ‘they shall not pass’ attitude.
“Not like some of today’s divas, out for three weeks with a broken hairband!
“In future, we might see his name in the answer to that particular football quiz question.”
