I don’t mean as a player-manager but as an out-and-out player with another club. William Neill, of Coldside, Dundee, asked to settle an argument. William, a Celtic fan, reckons Parkhead legend Bobby Evans returned to the playing side of the game after a managerial stint. Evans joined Third Lanark as a player-coach under manager Willie Steel. When Steel resigned, Evans was catapulted into the hot seat but still kept himself registered as a player. He lasted just one year as Cathkin boss before joining Raith Rovers as a 36-year-old player in 1965 under Stark’s Park boss George Farm. Evans won 75 caps for Scotland and was a Celtic player for 15 years before going south to Chelsea for £15,000.
