My plea on June 30 for brothers who have played for Dundee was answered initially by Danny Smith.
The original BwB article submitted Paul and Stephen McGinn as the only brothers to have played together for the Dens Park side.
Danny, who runs a fans’ site called ‘Up Wi’ The Bonnets’, said: “Been looking at your question — and it’s a cracker.
“Javier Artero and his brother Miguel both played for Dundee against Lochee United in Craig Robertson’s testimonial match.
“However, as it wasn’t a competitive match, it probably doesn’t count.
“The closest I’ve seen to an answer is with Fred and Harry Erentz, both from Dundee.
“Fred played for Dundee Our Boys but I’ve not got any record of his stats.
“I think his last game was in 1892.”
A reader, posting only as ‘@DFCTrivia’, also mentioned the Artero brothers and continued the debate.
He offered: “Another set of brothers to play for DFC are Charlie and Grant Adam but not at the same time, of course.
“I can’t think of any others but there are plenty of sons and fathers such as Stewart/Craig Forsyth, Dougie/Kenny Cameron, Gordon/Gavin Strachan, Ian/Alan Gilzean, Graeme/Barry Forbes and no doubt some others.
Dundee United historian Peter Rundo attempts to even things up by starting a debate about brothers who have played at Tannadice.
“The following definitely played together in the same United side,” said Peter.
“Dan/Duncan Hutchison, Johnny/Jimmy Coyle, Jimmy/Tommy Millar and Joe/Sandy Whyte (twins).
“David/Robbie Winters were on the books at the same time but never played in the first team together.”
The debate is still open for more brothers who have played for Dundee and siblings who have turned out together for United.
Can you also add to @DFCTrivia’s father and son list, and let’s also have fathers and sons who played for the Terrors.
Meanwhile, Billy Martin, of Strathmartine Road, Dundee, got in touch on behalf of his dad Brian.
“Dad and some of his friends at their bowling club love BwB and they were all scratching their heads when trying to come up with other players called Arthur,” said Billy, who works in the building trade.
“They couldn’t come up with any additions to Arthur but dad said he wanted to present you with his own little poser.
“He remembers a player called Felix Reilly signing briefly for Dundee in the 1950s.
“He asks if there were any other players in Scotland with the first name Felix.”
Felix Reilly was a Scottish U/23 inside-left who joined Dundee from Dunfermline in April 1957.
He previously played junior for Shotts Bon Accord before joining up at East End Park.
He left Dens a year later to join Jerry Dawson’s East Fife.
I certainly can’t point to any other Felixs but perhaps you can?
