Grant Mackie was delighted to read a recent story.
“It was great to see the photo of the Windsor in the Tele on May 28,” he said.
“My dad Les Mackie is in the photograph back row, second from right.
“He was on the committee and he also played for Windsor and Dundee Violet.
“He died in 2013 from Alzheimer’s.
“I used to go and watch the Windsor when I was a kid, so I recognised most of the team.
“One of the committee members listed as Unknown (back row at the end, next to my dad) is Doug Young.
“Doug worked as a supervisor at Christian Salvesen when my dad was manager there.
“I think I’ve got that picture in an old album but it was great to see it in the paper.”
Harry Birmingham has come up with more information regarding James Keay, who was the main subject of that Windsor story.
“This has been gathered by Bob Lamberton after speaking to Jim Potts (ex-Windsor), and also Joe Ogilvie and Davie Mitchell (both St Clement’s).
“The incident in which James was injured was in a game between Windsor and St Clement’s on February 9, 1959.
“Jimmy had gone up with someone for a high ball and landed badly.
“He hit his head on the ground, which must have been quite hard, given the time of year.
“He seemed OK after the game and actually went out dancing after the match at night.
“Sadly, though, he died on Tuesday, February 12, from a brain hemorrhage.”
