Kenneth Brannan started off by saying he hadn’t written to me in a while.
I thought I was out of favour as his comments were still reaching our letters pages on various subjects.
But, no, he’s back, and, indeed, is very complimentary.
“I just thought I’d drop you a line to let you know how much I enjoy the format now that BwB has moved from Friday to Tuesday,” he said.
For the record, that format changed just over a year ago.
Kenneth continued: “One aspect of BwB, in particular, which brings me a great deal of enjoyment is the contributions of exiled Dundonian Mr Rob Boag.
“He is and has been for a very long time a very big part of the column.
“This gentleman obviously has a great depth of knowledge about sport in Dundee much earlier in his life.
“Not just football but other sports, too, and those who took part in it.
“Rob is obviously very passionate about his native Dundee.
“One of his most recent contributions to BwB (February 17) brilliantly and accurately described your column as ‘a literary time capsule’.
“He was right, the column is all about nostalgia and brings back happy memories to a vast number of people.
“I am also sure your column brings a smile to the family members of sportsmen and women from the past many of whom passed away long ago.
“It’s a great opportunity to have their dearly-departed relatives fondly remembered for their sporting achievements.
“Long may your column continue to be published.”
