Blether with Brown: Where are the Angus trophies?

Bob Lamberton, for many decades a driving force in the local Angus Amateur FA, and who held positions with the Scottish AFA, is looking for trophies which were played for by the Angus association.

“We’re basically just wanting them all back in,” said Bob, who also ran the Springfield team.

“Currently, we are missing the Angus Challenge Cup, Thomson Trophy and Westgrove Albion Trophy.”

Tom Wilkie, who also did sterling work with the local and national associations, is assisting Bob in locating the silverware.

“The Angus AFA went into abeyance in 1994, and didn’t get back up and running.

“Many teams, who won these trophies, are having reunions and have asked for a particular trophy to be on display at their function.

“It would be great to have them all back.”

Bob would also like to know the whereabouts of a private trophy the James Keay Memorial Trophy.

He continued: “This was a trophy in memory of a former Windsor player and the club played an end-of-season game every year with the JKMT as the prize.

“We’d also like to know the whereabouts of this trophy and the history behind it.

“The inscription on the plate reads: The James Keay Memorial Trophy presented by Windsor AFC 1959.”

Bob can be contacted on 01382 774914.
