Blether with Brown: Trial games at start of new season

“It’s great to see all the old photos of Dundee and Dundee United training,” was the opening line from George Kennedy, of Kirkton, Dundee.
“I’m getting on now but I remember these days vividly.
“I also remember that both city teams had a trial match at the start of each season, featuring first-team players, reserves and hopeful trialists.
“Do any BwB readers remember this?”
I certainly do and attended a couple around the late 50s and early 60s.
