Francie Wemyss has been a stalwart committee member of the ultra-successful Riverside Athletic AFC outfit over the past five decades or so.
He has admitted to me on several occasions over the years that he was never quite good enough to command a regular place in football teams.
And so he did the next best thing by filling committee posts, giving up his time and efforts to help run teams and one that he really has enjoyed fulfilling.
His latest promptings to BwB were regarding the SS Peter and Paul Primary School football teams sent in by Arlene Shirkey, who mentioned her father John Duffy in various stories.
There were several players in one of the teams listed as ‘Unknown’.
“I wasn’t good enough to get into that particular Paulies team but I do know most of the players and many of the ones you had named as ‘Unknown’, said Francie.
“In the team photo with the AC Little Cup, I can name the four Unknowns in the middle row.
“From left, they are now Birmingham, Moreland, Sunter, Brown, Fox, McLaughlan and Robinson (or Robertson).”
