Dundee reader Bob Feenie has come up with an interesting fact concerning the club Strathmore.
To refresh, Swindon Town historian James Turner enlisted the help of BwB (November 19) to find out more about a former Town player James Munro, who passed away while still with the club at an early age.
He is buried in a cemetery in the town.
All this happened in the late 1890s and James (Turner) wanted to find out more about Strathmore as Munro played for them before making the switch to Swindon.
“Several years ago, I was updating my skills on the computer,” said Bob.
“One of the tasks I undertook was researching and collating information on the evolvement of football jersey styles.
“And, away back, I came up with Strathmore.
“It’s all a bit vague but may be of interest and may be a small piece of the jigsaw.
“There were two dates given for Strathmore. One was 1876-1894 and the other 1880-1894.
“Interestingly, it said they amalgamated with Wanderers to become Dundee Wanderers.
“Dundee Wanderers then, in turn, amalgamated with Our Boys to form Dundee FC.
“Around that time, there seemed to be another club called Johnstone who had some sort of link with Dundee FC.”
