Davie Cowper first told on September 10 how his Rockwell School team won the Sports Cup on corners.
Michael Mulford, who was in the same Rockie team, came on in our October 28 issue to dispute a few points, and gave his take on how that cup final against Butterburn panned out at Balfield Park.
Davie Watson, all the way from Toronto in Canada, has entered the debate.
“I’m a bit confused about the cup finals in 1958,” said Davie.
“Let me start by saying that, in 1958, I think we (Butterburn) played SS Peter and Paul at Tannadice in a final.
“This has been highlighted previously by Angus Cook, the former Dundee FC chairman, who explained how good the Paulies were.
“They suffered no losses all season.
“I think they were lucky against us as we missed a penalty in that final.
“Now I see Rockwell player Michael Mulford is on claiming a corners victory.
“I can remember games at Tannadice but not games at ‘Bawfield’?
“I also remember losing the North End Fives with Butterburn against The Cash (NCR) on corners.
“They played under a pub team name.”
