Blether with Brown: None have more service than Davie
ByJohn Brown
Davie Morris featured prominently in Frank Jordan’s swimming piece on September 23.
However, he wants to confirm a few things.
“I think Frank got a wee bit mixed up when he said I worked in the old Dundee Central Baths,” said Davie.
“I’ve actually worked a total of 39 years (eight at the old Olympia and 31 at Lochee Baths).
“What I said was I don’t think anyone has ever had more service than myself at the swimming.
“I learned to swim at the Central Baths and joined the NCR club, where I swam and played polo.
“It was Frank who actually taught me to swim.
“I took some stick from my mates when they saw the article saying I worked at the old baths.
“My father-in-law Joe Maguire worked at the old Central Baths and he also managed the great Craigmore Amateur football side at the same time as Butterburn and John Letford’s St Columba were on the go.”
