Blether with Brown: It’ll be a Jolly good time at the Hillside reunion

John Mitchell and Jim Ferrie are organising a reunion for the Hillside Boys Club team from season 1972-73.

“The Hillside Boys Club team from the 1972-73 season won the North of Tay Cup and Scottish Union of Boys Clubs Cup, in addition to domestic trophies,” said John.

“We are having a reunion on Friday, September 19, in Jolly’s Hotel (Wetherspoon’s) in Broughty Ferry.

“All who were involved in the set-up with Hillside are invited.”

Our files revealed the Hillside 1973 photo.

Back row (from left) Peter Dolan, Jim Ferrie, Ian Christie, Alan Stewart, Mark Ritchie, Jim McIlravey, Dave Albrecht. Front row Frank Esposito, John Mitchell, Stewart Hunter, Pat Reilly, Alan Morrison, Ian Donaldson.

Other players in the squad at that time were George Getty, Charlie Donaldson, Brian Robbie, Colin Milligan.

The same file also revealed another Hillside squad (in colour) but which had no year or names with it.

I can recognise Jimmy Hunter and Andy Somerville in the front row.

Can anyone put names to faces and the year?
