ByJohn Brown
Jim Shepherd is the Evening Telegraph hockey correspondent and he and wife Joyce recently celebrated their golden wedding with a function at the Royal Tay Yacht Club in Broughty Ferry, Dundee.
Present at the event were four other former Dundee Wanderers players, and one from Harris FP, from around 60 years ago.
“Present were four Wanderers players/officials dating back to the early 50s,” revealed Jim, whose weekly dose of hockey is featured every Tuesday in the Tele.
“Also there was Jack Cashley, who sorted out those Wanderers with injuries, and Bill Garland who was captain of the Harris FP Scottish-winning team.
“Dave McMahon played in Wanderers’ 1973 cup-winning team.
“Cammy Braidwood, Dave McMahon and Bob Jones (now resident in Reading) are all former Wanderers presidents.
“Indeed, Bob joined Wanderers in the early 60s from Yorkshire.
“Cammy joined Wanderers in 1953, Dave about 1963 and Jack has been helping hockey players since the late 80s.”
