Blether with Brown: First-half hat-trick in cup final By John Brown July 23 2014, 5:00am July 23 2014, 5:00am Share Blether with Brown: First-half hat-trick in cup final Share via Facebook Twitter Linkedin Whatsapp Messenger Email Post link https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/columnists/2621059/blether-with-brown-first-half-hat-trick-in-cup-final/ Copy Link Alan ‘Dodzer’ Dodds reckons he can assist Jimmy Ballie on a couple of points. Jimmy was featured on June 10 when he asked for more details of the 1978-79 Scottish Cup Final between Celtic Boys and Fintry Boys at Glenesk Park. “Jimmy was mistaken on a couple of points,” opened Alan. “The season was 1980-81 and Fintry won 3-2 in the replay. “I scored a first-half hat-trick in that game,” revealed Dodzer, and a hat-trick in a Scottish Cup Final is not something he would forget. “Fintry played Deeside at Craigie Park with me scoring the only goal. “The semi-final with Blantyre saw us draw 3-3 but we won the return 3-0 at Broughty Athletic’s ground. “As Jimmy said, the final saw a 3-3 draw at Glenesk before Fintry won the replay 3-2. “Fintry were the last team to win the Juvenile U/18 Scottish Cup and the trophy currently sits in Hampden Park.” Dodzer concluded: “Graeme McMurchie was the manager of Fintry and he was the Jose Mourinho of his time. “He would never forgive me if I didn’t mention him!” Jimmy, of Argyle Street in Dundee, came back on with grateful thanks for highlighting the final. I hope Dodzer’s reply can help him firm up the facts. This article originally appeared on the Evening Telegraph website. For more information, read about our new combined website.
