Blether with Brown: Davie could play only until cows came home
ByJohn Brown
A few months back March 26 to be precise BwB carried the story of the Crieff Earngrove player who often had to leave games early due to having to let the cows back in at the farm where he worked.
Grant, who gave sterling senior service to Dunfermline and St Johnstone, was back at McDiarmid Park to play for Neil Docherty’s team in the Over-35 section of the seven-a-side tournament which was part of St Johnstone player Steven Anderson’s testimonial year.
So we took the chance to ask him Was Davie Scougall the player in question?
“Yes he was,” Grant replied, “In fact, there were some games when he didn’t play at all due to his farming duties and, in these others, he had to leave early.
“He was a decent player, too, so we missed him.”
