Terry Kelly is well known in Perth football circles and is an avid BwB reader.
Noting that Riverside Athletic were in the recent Evening Telegraph-sponsored North of Tay Cup Final, Terry recalled a tale from the time his team, Perth outfit ASC, faced River in a Scottish Cup tie.
“I think the tie was in 1992 or 1993 and we drew 3-3 in Dundee and the replay was on Perth’s South Inch.
“Riverside beat us in that second game, I think it was by 3-1 after extra-time, and the police had to be called in.
“However, it wasn’t due to trouble. Such a big crowd turned up that spectators were backing on to the Edinburgh Road, thereby causing concerns for motorists.
“I’ve never heard of that happening before at an amateur game in Perth before or since.”
