Charlie Walker’s latest query concerns legendary Dundee United defender Jimmy Briggs.
Two of his friends, Ronnie and Gary, are Dundee United and Dundee fans respectively, and they want to know if Jimmy Briggs scored for United against Dundee in a game in the 1960s… or did he concede an own goal?
The game in question came in the Dark Blues’ title-winning 1961-62 season in the first city derby on September 9, which Dundee won 4-1 in front of 18,765 fans at Dens.
Dundee were 3-0 up in the game through goals from Andy Penman, Gordon Smith and a Briggs own goal.
United then scored through Dennis Gillespie before Hugh Robertson completed the scoring for the Dens men.
