Blether with Brown: Coincidence surrounds Logie photo
ByJohn Brown
Davie Dodds and Allan Boath are both in this Logie school team from 1972, which, coincidentally, was featured just a couple of days before Bobby Glennie posed his now-famous question.
The original tale with this team group centred around goalkeeper Jim Lorimer and he got in touch.
“It’s amazing what some newspaper articles can do,” he said.
“Since it appeared, I’ve had several phone calls about the team photo.”
With amazing coincidence, Jim went on: “In the photo is a boy who played against Scotland in the World Cup Finals.
“Do you know who he was?”
Jim Cooper, a flying left-winger in his youth with Lochee Boys Club, also responded to the Logie photo.
He asked: “I was wondering if any of your readers in BwB remember a lad called Jim Kerr.
“Jim says he played for Logie School the same time as Davie Dodds.
“He even said that Dodds was taken off and he was put up front when things were not going well.”
Just to remind you, names in the photo are (back row, from left) Scrimgeour, Wighton, Lorimer, Boath, Dodds, Dye, Kemlo. Front row Davidson, Donald, Martin, Money, Glen, Miller.
