This photo of a Ferry Athletic football team was sent in by Scott Lorimer, a colleague on the Tele.
“This team came together while we were all at Forthill Primary in 1997,” said Scott.
“I believe we were the first-ever Ferry Athletic team.
“I think it was Bill Sheehan, Stephen Ree’s dad and Daniel McBride’s dad (can’t remember their names) who put the team together and ran the training sessions at Dawson Park.
“I played left-back but my footballing career never took off.
“The only person to have really had a career in football is Daniel McBride.
“He did have a spell playing in Chile after a scholarship in the US but I believe he is now back in the States coaching at a university.
“Richard Hammond was on the books at Dundee but, due to injury, was let go.
“He did play some junior football while studying at St Andrews University, then at Edinburgh Uni while training to be a doctor.
“He and Stephen Macpherson are both now doctors, Richard at Royal Victoria in Kirkcaldy and Stephen at Ninewells.
“The others I occasionally see in the Ferry but I’ve not had a good chat with them in a while.
