Tam Welsh emailed in with a plea to find out more about two Dundonians.
“Having been resident in London for the past 50 years, lots of my friends here are Glaswegians,” he said.
“Some played for a football team in Acton, London, called Acton Central.
“They wore the Scotland kit away from home and Celtic strips at home.
“They were a fairly successful team.
“However, they are forever talking about two Dundee boys who played for them and who were the stars of the side.
“One was goalkeeper Bobby Fitchet and the other was Bobby Weir.
“They are all relying on me to get them information through BwB.”
BwB ran a story on Bobby Fitchet in 2009 with information supplied by Peter McCafferty, among others.
At the time, Peter said: “I was gobsmacked as I sat down at my work desk in Melbourne, Australia, one Monday morning.
“I opened my emails to find my sister had sent me your column from the ‘Tully’ showing a picture of the Joeys,” said the former Shamrock, St Joseph’s and Lochee United midfielder.
“I was very excited until I saw that I was ‘Unknown’.
“My ego was shattered.”
Peter continued: “Bobby Fitchet was amazing in goal.
“I remember some saves where he would fly from one goalpost to the other and catch the ball, land on his feet and chuck the ball to me or Peter Urquhart.
“You would be hard pushed to get a special-effects team to create some of the things he did.”
