Lochee reader Irene Lee recognised the Lochee Renton photo, which appeared in BwB on February 25.
“This photo of Renton used to hang in the Planet Bar in Lochee,” said Irene.
“I went in to see it again recently but all the old photos have been taken down as there are now different owners.
“I was particularly interested to read Rob Boag’s comments about the young Renton men who went away to the First World War and never came home.
“Rob mentions the J Mackay in the photo as one who didn’t return.
“I don’t know where the mix-up is but J Mackay is my grandfather and he lived to grand old age of 84, despite smoking many Capstan extra-strength cigarettes every day.
“He was a Lochee man, staying in Lawrence Street, before moving to 10 Morgan Street so he could have an easy walk down to his work at the Caledon Shipyard.
“He was living in Ardler when he passed away.”
Irene was also to know more about the Glover in the photo.
“If anyone has any information about him, I’d be delighted to know,” she concluded.
