Blether with Brown: It’s all very sporty in the Garden

I’ve known members of the Garden family for decades and, as this photo resurrected from our photo files shows, they are all cricket mad.

However, the Broughty Ferry quartet have always retained a keen love of football, too.

Indeed, Stuart, a goalkeeper with Dundee United, Brechin, Forfar, Notts County and Ross County, is now manager of Montrose.

Dad Howard was a colleague in DC Thomson and fancied himself as a bit of a goalkeeper, too, in works league matches.

Graeme is currently the Tele’s cricket correspondent (Extra Cover) and a member of Forfarshire Cricket Club.

Lindsay, a postman, is one family member I don’t know personally but he would have, naturally, been delighted last year when his son Callum (15) was part of the Forfarshire U/15 cricket team which won the Scottish Cup.
