Blether with Brown: Family woe as Dundee striker John nets winner
ByJohn Brown
The recent article on former Dundee forward John Gray sparked a response from Kinnoull Junior FC president Chris Jones.
Chris said: “John is my wife’s cousin. He comes from Hamilton and stayed with my wife’s family in Perth during his stint with Dundee and thereby hangs an interesting tale,
“My wife’s folks are Celtic fans and, even though John was in the Dundee side which played Celtic one day at Dens, they still stayed true and supported Celtic.
“However, John netted the winner that day, so you can imagine the reception he got back in Perth when he turned up.”
Terry Kelly, also a well-known football figure in the Perth area and father of former Dundee signing Jonathan Kelly, also spoke about the Gray connection.
Terry is brother-in-law to Chris and, therefore, a cousin to John Gray.
Terry said: “John still lives in Hamilton and I know the area well.
“As a youngster, I often stayed with John’s family and have many happy memories of my time there.”
