It’s long been my goal to have Blether with Brown reaching the four corners of the globe.
In years gone by, we’ve had replies from Canada, Brazil and Australia in addition to input from dozens of other countries which would take care of three of the four corners, loosely speaking.
Now the set is complete with a tale from a missionary in China.
Doctor Ian Traill was born in Dundee and grew up in Australia.
He wants to find our more about his father, Charles Morton Traill, who played for local junior football clubs North End and Forthill Athletic JFC.
“Dad said these teams were successful,” said Ian, putting out a plea for information of any kind on his father.
“Dad also said that, as a junior, he played for a junior Scotland team.
“He also said he tried out for the top level but didn’t get there, playing in second level.
“I hope some of the photos attached may shed some light on his career.
“If anyone has any information, I would love to hear from them.
“Dad was born in Dundee on December 27, 1909, to parents John Grace Wallace Traill (an insurance salesman) and mother Isabella Watson Traill (nee Morton).
“He met Isabel Chalmers, who was born in Sydney on December 31,1920, to Scottish and Irish parents.
“They were married at St Paul’s Cathedral, Dundee, Scotland, on July 19, 1940.
“I was born in Dundee and grew up in Australia.
“I became the national champion and represented Australia in powerlifting at the world championships in Norway in 1987 where I led the team in the opening ceremony.
“I won the Asian and Oceania Championships.
“Also I competed in Highland games in Australia.
“I am now a missionary, living in China.”
