Current NCR team manager Jim Long responded to a story published on September 27.
The tale was about legendary Cash committee man Bob Griffin.
Midlands official Ally Martin replied to a reader who had earlier suggested Bob be honoured for his many years in the local amateur game, pointing out that his association, indeed, had done so in 1999.
Jim, however, revealed that Bob had been further honoured.
“Bob never retired after his presentation by the Midlands AFA in 1999,” opened Jim.
“He actively stayed on the committee until his recent sad passing.
“BwB readers should also know that Bob was honoured with the President’s Award from the Scottish Amateur FA the highest accolade handed out by the national body.
“And we are also actively pursuing another honour for Bob.
“I can exclusively reveal to BwB readers that we have applied to have the football side of Caird Park Stadium where we now play our home games named after Bob in some way.
“With the athletics side already named after Ronnie McIntosh, we think it fitting and appropriate that Bob’s name lives on in this way.
“Talks are currently under way and we are hoping for a positive response.”
