Billy Letford, the goalkeeper in the St Columba BC’s photo of July 19, was quick to come on to name a team-mate.
“The lad whose name is just given as Ginger is Brian Hutchison,” said Billy, who is still picking up trophies in his later-years sport of bowls.
“He was a great player and he went on to be a policeman “That was a good side and we had some great games, most notably winning the Scottish Cup.”
Billy, of course, is the son of former Dundee Lord Provost John Letford, who is now a Tele columnist.
Billy has handed in a number of photos from his dad’s very successful time with local youth teams and I’ll share some of these with readers in the weeks to come.
