Signing himself only as Bill on the Tele website, a reader was “saddened to hear of the death of Bob Griffin”.
He continued: “I played for NCR amateurs in the late 1960s and early 70s before moving to Johannesburg and have many fond memories of Bob.
“He was a Cash man through and through and, between him and Sandy Mackie, there was nothing they wouldn’t do for their ‘boys’.
“The remnants of the great Scottish Amateur Cup-winning team were still there when I joined up and there was hardly a match for them at any level in Dundee.
“I see that guys like Tom McGovern occasionally contribute to this column and I often wonder what happened to other committee members like Colin Easton, Andy McIntosh, Les Bell, etc.
“The Midlands Amateur FA must do something in Bob’s memory to ensure he is remembered and honoured in Dundee amateur football forever.”
