George Brown (Igdbrownone@yahoo.co.uk) was quick off the mark as he recognised a member of his family in the photo. “Re the two photos from Sandra Heeney, the team was St Clement’s,” he offered. “My big brother Jim was the goalkeeper. “They won the Thomson Trophy and I think the game was played at Thomson Park. “However, I can’t remember the date or year. “It might be late 1950s or early 1960s. “I can’t remember many of the players in the team but do remember wee Joe Ogilvie and Bobby Breen, who were in the photo. “My brother left Dundee in 1964 for Canada and, sadly, died in a town called Qnesnel BC in 1987. “I can’t wait to read your column every week on Fridays. Keep up the good work.” Also replying to this was Ian McNicoll, who also recognised goalkeeper Jim Brown. “It looks like it was a Beechwood-based team and I know Jim played for St Clement’s, among others,” said Ian. “He worked in the Caledon shipyard in Dundee and, when that shut down, he emigrated to Canada.” This article originally appeared on the Evening Telegraph website.
