However, he reckoned it was not the venue Rob suggested. “As I wasn’t born until 1935, I didn’t see that great Harp team play,” said John, of Granton Place. “The photo included my uncle, Alec Duncan. “The photo, I reckon, was taken at Glenesk Park as Harp played all their home games at Lochee Park until 1940 when Beechwood Park was opened. “It was probably a Scottish Cup tie they were playing and they would have had to play that in an enclosed ground under cup rules. “Violet’s ground at the time of that match was able to accommodate such large crowds.” This article originally appeared on the Evening Telegraph website.
