Regular contributor Andy Walker was deeply saddened with the news that former Dundee FC employee Isobel “Issie” Sneddon had passed away.
“The name ‘Mrs Dundee’ absolutely sums her up,” said Andy.
“I met Isobel for the first time years ago through James ‘Napper’ Thomson. the Lochee business man.
“We were a few tickets short for a Scotland match and I was told by Napper: ‘Awa up to Dens and see Isobel’.
“I went up to Dens Park, where I met Isobel.
“She asked what I needed and I replied whatever I could get.
“She gave me two tickets and told me to pay Napper, also telling me to come back later in the week as there might be some tickets not uplifted.
“I went back later in the week and she gave me another five.
“Since that initial meeting, Isobel helped us on many occasion with footballing matters.
“However, the greatest favour that Isobel did for me was when she got me Pele’s autograph.
“I had received a book for my Xmas and, shortly after the New Year, it was announced he was coming to Dens Park to promote the forthcoming U/16 World Youth Cup.
“I asked if it would be possible if she could get him to sign it and she asked me to hand it in nearer the time, which I did.
“The following week after his visit, I went to the ground and met Isobel and she handed me the book with Pele’s autograph.
“That was the kind of person she was, ever obliging, with a fabulous personality.
“They say Scottish football is failing this is correct. Where do we find another Isobel Sneddon?”
