Blether with Brown: Hairy Bunch named

All the names in the “Hairy Bunch” photo, which has featured a couple of times in recent weeks, have now been confirmed.

Stewart Lynch, group safety and environment manager at DC Thomson, who is generously nicknamed “Zico”, commented: “In the front row of the photo, the player named as Brian Easton is, in fact, Brian Marsh, now living in Canada.

“Brian also played for Grove Amateurs in the 1980s.”

Current Dundee Violet JFC manager Jim Finlayson also named him as Marsh.

Alan Farnan was in the photo and named the Unknown player as Ian “Dab” Hendry.

Alan, now living in the Blackness Road area, continued: “He was just known as ‘Dab’ to everyone.

“The manager of that team confirmed as Douglaspark, was Jim Blair, who, at the time, was curator of Dundee Museum. He left to take up a similar position in the Perth area.”

A message on my phone at the sports desk also offered the final “Unknown” player as Ian Hendry but the caller did not leave a name.
